Well starting to really doubt my knitting abilities when I cant see how this silly thing is meant to go together. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Been back through Mum's book and there is definitely no diagram.
Good luck figuring it out Katherine - I'm not any help to you at all, sorry! I hope your Etsy is going well & that you'll soon have soon regular buyers for your products x
What terrible instructions! Clearly no-one tested it, or they would have had it rewritten. It is really unclear.
One of my friends in the Blue Mountains had a similar problem with a pattern she knitted for a kind of long poncho, with sleeves and ties at the sides. We figured it out by playing with the pieces she had knitted.
If you have knitted it, maybe you could post photos of the pieces and we could try to work it out. The other way might be to graph the shape from the instructions.
I think it is a Spotlight pattern book, isn't it? I've looked online, and can't see anywhere they offer help with their patterns, but there might be an address in the book itself.
I reckon your best bet is a group of knitters with the pieces you have, trying to figure out how it goes together. Sorry I'm not much help.

Sorry I can't help, hopefully someone will be able to work it out.
"Follow the diagram," it says. Is it on another page?
I agree with Jillian, if you show us what you've knitted, we might be able to work it out.
How frustrating!
